Who we are
Tal-Massar Winery is a cherished family-owned boutique winery nestled in the historic village of Għarb, Gozo. Our story began in 1934, when gozitan immigrant Carmelo Hili returned from America and first founded the winery. Nowadays, third-generation vintner Anthony Hili and his wife Marisa, continue preserving the winery's legacy into the 21st century.
Our vines are planted in terraced lime calcareous soil which limits their productivity, but ensures the best quality grapes. In fact, we only produce twenty thousand bottles of wine from a single harvest. Every year, we produce a range of IĠT and DOK Gozo wine from grape varieties such as the indigenous Maltese Girgentina, Vermentino, Nero d'Avola, Syrah, and Merlot.

Book your Wine Tasting Session
Those interested in learning more about our viticulture are invited to attend one of our wine tasting sessions. The price is €45/person and the session takes around 2 to 3 hours. Tours are hosted on our private estate in the country-side of Għarb, and are held by the winemaker Anthony or his family.
We give whole wine bottles (750ml) to share between 4 people in your group. Four wines will be served; Tanit, Manzara, San Mitri, and Livia. These will be paired with a cheese and salami platter, as well as Maltese bread, galletti, and a homemade sun-dried tomato paste.
